We had booked 2 x 1-bed apartments but were given 2 x 2-bed bungalows instead. It's hard to know how much less busy the complex is because of the Covid situation and the remaining travel restrictions because we have only ever been here in school holiday periods before.
One thing's for certain - Jet2 Holidays and the Costa Sal apartment complex are not making money at the moment by offering us a 10-day self catering break including flights for £485 each!
Our flight was well organised and our exit from the plane was closely supervised, rather like when people go up for communion at church. We were released a row at a time and left the plane in the most orderly manner I can remember. Maybe this is one small silver lining from the storm of Covid?
We had booked a private transfer for the 5 of us and that was well worth it. We had an executive minibus and I felt like I was a Premiership footballer. The airport is only 10 minutes away, so we were soon in Reception.
Everyone has been so welcoming from the moment we landed onwards. We had to show our passports, our locator forms and our vaccination certificates and we were mass screened for our temperatures as we entered the medical area. I was randomly selected for secondary screening, but everyone was so pleasant. They were clearly delighted that their island, so heavily reliant on tourism, was starting to get back into business once again.
